LIGHT AND FOAM
“fünf vor zwölf” is a contemporary interpretation of a grandfathers clock in a modern and sleek compositing. The porcelain foam gives every minute an individual look. The combination of foam, porcelain, beech wood, textiles and leather brings an interesting contrast between cold, sterile and warm, natural components.

This project was made in collaboration with KOBER Steinwiesen GmbH & Co. KG

porcelain

The Process

Putting a burnable material into the porcelain gives a foam like structure to it. The foam lets light pass through it and gives the dial a non-technical appeal.

TECH SPECS
The porcelain foam is backlit by a 32x32 Pixel LED matrix. The technical looking LED grid dissolves through the foam and gives a diamond like sparkle effect.

The Design

The combination of the cold porcelain and the warm oak wood, fabric and leather gives the watch a contemporary appeal.
